In any given lake, there’s always one fish that can never be caught. It uses its smarts to stay one step ahead of the most experienced anglers. Over the years, Kame’s Sports has run its business much the same way. With excellent service and a wide selection, Kame’s has outsmarted the competition and gained the respect of outdoors enthusiasts everywhere.
Kame’s was started in 1968 in an old dry cleaning store that was about the size of a two car garage. At that time it was just an outboard motor and boat service facility. There were no products to sell. As a matter of fact, the very first thing that was offered for sale was a dozen one gallon gasoline cans. That was our entire inventory. Our selection eventually expanded into lawnmowers, bicycles, mini bikes, and small boats and canoes. The first major item for sale was the Coleman Camping trailers.
In 1976 we began our adventure into outdoor sporting goods after purchasing the inventory of Reel Live Bait Company, a hunting and fishing store that Mr. Kame’s father had started in 1941. We remodeled a block building being used as a repair garage to suit the needs of our new retail endeavor. With a love for all things outdoors and a knack for customer service, we forged on.
We finished our main building in 1989 and gradually moved all hunting, fishing, and clothing equipment into this new area. After liquidating our Coleman dealership we expanded the motocross department into our original retail space. Even though things are constantly being tweaked, you will still find this basic layout in our store right now.
When you visit our store today you can expect to find a great product selection, along with a knowledgeable staff. You’ll appreciate our unique atmosphere and attention to detail. High up on our walls you can find incredible game mounts including fish, deer and Alaskan Elk, as well as immaculate vintage dirt bikes and motorcycles. Kame’s is truly a store where you can satisfy all of your outdoor wants and needs.
